Lambda Sigma Gamma Sorority became a reality on October 24, 1986, when twenty-seven women sharing the same interest, beliefs and goals came together. They were interested in forming an organization that would not only act as a family away from home, but that would also bring together women from various backgrounds and incorporate the principles of self improvement, scholastic excellence, civic responsibility and leadership. The 27 Founding Mothers realized that the campus did not offer an organization that met the needs of women from minority backgrounds. Fuentes ignited the organization the first year by recruiting 26 founding mothers. was founded on the campus of Sacramento State University in 1986. Unity within our sorority is enhanced by retreats, activities, community service and meetings within each individual chapter, as well as throughout the state.Lambda Sigma Gamma Sorority, Inc. We are a network of women in higher education seeking to empower and make life more supportive for women of all backgrounds. Lambda Sigma Gamma is the first Multicultural sorority at UCSB with an emphasis on academic excellence, community involvement, professional and social development. Our Zeta Chapter was founded on Novemat the UCSB. Since then, LSG has expanded to 26 chapters throughout the West Coast. It is through the acceptance and understanding of other cultures, interests, and lifestyles that LSG remains strong and united. LSG is a Multicultural Sorority that believes in Beauty Through Diversity and Unity Through Sisterhood. Our Founder wanted to create a space for women of color to thrive on university campuses. was founded in 1986 by 27 Multicultural Women at California State University, Sacramento. We strive to bring women together from diverse backgrounds under the spirit of Multiculturalism for LSG. Our physical talents and mental abilities vary, but it is within these differences that we choose to live our lives and share our dreams in hopes of educating one another and bettering ourselves. As sisters, we have come together from different creeds, ethnic groups, and socioeconomic backgrounds. My favorite thing about my sisterhood is how close we hold our pillar of multiculturalism. My sisters have taught me compassion and patience and have empowered me to be brave and to live my life unapologetically. Joining this sisterhood has not only made me a better leader but a better person as well. I now have hundreds of sisters who I know are there for me and could turn to for professional and academic advice. Navigating through college as a first generation student could be very difficult and isolating, but ever since joining, I have found a home away from home with a group of women who I know will always have my back. I could see how supporting they were of one another and how much they did for the community and I wanted to be a part of that. What initially drew me to LSG were the connections I made with sisters. Hi, my name is Diana Garcia and I am the ZETA Chapter President of Lambda Sigma Gamma Sorority, Inc.
